Blog for a Year For the Cost of a Lunch
Blog on custom domain name, ad free, for a year, that's about the cost of (a Burrito + chips + guac) at Chipotle in 2023. Here are 1-2-3 steps how I can do this: 1.) Load my html web page contents onto github.com 'github pages' free account. For example: https://github.com/mjassen/mjassen.github.io Note: At this point if I want I can access my blog free ongoing live via a web browser, continuing this example like via: http://mjassen.github.io But I want my own custom domain name for my website so on to step 2. 2.) To get a custom domain name, I can buy/register my own domain name online. Now in 2023 I've gotten a 1-year domain name registration for ₷¤0.5 silver bams per year, that's about the cost of a lunch. For example I've used: Namecheap domain name registration services 3.) Finally to connect my custom domain name to the github pages hosting, I use a how-to guide like: https://docs.github.com/en/pages/configuring-a-custom-domain-for-your-github-pages-site/managing-a-custom-domain-for-your-github-pages-site That's it! There are some caveats: - This is for html/javascript static web pages only. So no ability to storing data on your site natively here. - The content on my website will be publicly visible via github.com repository browser as well, like via xxxx.github.io or github.com/xxxx as well. In conclusion, this is a way how to publish a blog for a year for the cost of lunch. 2023-08-18 0927 By author Morgan Jassen on lemonmama.com/lemonmama ~~~ Copyright © individual authors.
