Reason Number 44 Why To Like GNU Jami (jami.net)

I can reset my account any time.

How to reset my jami account and clear all messages at any time.

On desktop client:

0.) First (Optional step #0!! Only if you want to save a back up copy of your account data!) Account > Manage Account > Backup account (if you want to save the data to a backup file before you permanently delete data)

1.) Then right click > Leave Conversation

2.) Do ^this for all conversations on this account.

3.) Finally unlink/delete this account from any/all other devices that were linked.

That's it!

Why this works:

In GNU Jami, all data is only stored on your client device/computer (and copied/synced to any devices that was also linked to this account.)

Therefore if you only have one device used/linked, then leaving conversations on that one without backing up first will just remove all the data.

Nice.

Unlike other services (facebook, twitter, linkedin, mastodon, wordpress, self-hosted blog, etc., etc.) where there is some data stored on a server.

IN this case no data stored on server, so, once I leave/delete my chat history on this/any/all of my client apps, then, the data is gone. Nice!

In conclusion, this has been reason number 44* why to like GNU Jami (jami.net). Control of my own data.

*Yeah it's not really the 44th reason. I just randomly picked a number from 1 to 100 because there are so many, like 100, reasons why to like GNU Jami, and I'm just writing them as I think of them.
