Got GrapheneOS working on second-hand pixel 8.

Confirmed phone-voice-call working.

Confirmed sms-text working.

On a T-mobile prepaid plan sim card.

This will be my "smart dumbphone".

A.K.A. dumbphone with touchscreen.

so psyched about this.

One reason is, to put it bluntly, many (,let's just say both plus outliers,) of the main app store companies, are leveraging app store and apps to restrict what users can and can't do on their smartphones/devices.

And I do enjoy some of those apps and devices, and probably still will.

However some of this amounts to what I simplistically and bluntly call "mind control" and so been on the quest for a device + software that will be simpler and more free/liberal in terms of individual freedom/liberty. More friendly to the individual user in the areas of 'Software Privacy Security Identity' etc.

I first learned the existence of GrapheneOS within the past 1.5 years or so, special thanks to my colleagues and to the software makers and everyone who inspired me for this.

Stay tuned, we'll see how it goes as a daily driver in the coming days/weeks.
