This is "the facemask reasons" blog post.

Compared to my a-few-years-ago self, no longer do I automatically pooh-pooh on folks wearing face masks.

Because folks wear facemasks for MANY DIFFERENT reasons.

Here is a short list:

1.) Privacy.

1.A.) Thwarting facial recognition cameras.  (see also  "About Face (Recognition)"  |  https://open.spotify.com/episode/2W958HMn5HlTBTnYvhqnDk )

2.) Legitimately stopping spreading germs from outward breathing. (think a doctor or surgeon or a sick person on the subway).

3.) It makes me feel good about my sick grandma. (In other words my sick grandma is far away and I am out-and-about in town, and therefore even though it doesn't actually help prevent spreading germs to my sick grandma at this moment, I still FEEL like it will prevent germs getting to my sick grandma.

5.) If I think I'm ugly, consciously or subconsciously.

6.) I think I have bad teeth , consciously or subconsciously.

7.) I think I have skin blemishes that make me look ugly, consciously or subconsciously.

8.) I just want anonymity. Period. (similar to Privacy, above)

9.) Bank robbers.

10.) ICE agents.

11.) If I’m a hot girl and want to mitigate the effect of nasty old men leering at me all the time.

12.) and more reasons to want to wear a facemask.

13.) and more, and more, and more...

In conclusion, there are many reasons to wear a facemask. And some of them would surprise my a-few-years-ago self. This was a short list. I no longer automatically pooh-pooh on someone wearing a facemask.
