Two in a Row Texting While Driving is Not Not Safe

1.)
Saw something new today.
two people in a row, texting and driving.
so standing waiting for the bus.
busy street.
saw one person texting and driving 40mph.
i thought, tsk tsk, dangerous.

2.)
Next person following them, also texting and driving 40mph.
i thought, wow.
so what if the first person and second person both looking down while driving, then something runs in front of car (animal, person, car, etc).
then first person is late reacting because looking down.
has to stop suddenly.
then they might survive that alone.
but then on top of that second person is also late reacting because looking down.
they also have to stop suddenly.
but since the first person already suddenly stopped, the second person doesn't have enough time to react to that.
boom crash.
sad.
wow what a world we live in 2026 texting and driving.

3.)
However, nuance here.
Everyone all the time is still ___assuming that no one is texting and driving___.
and so the assumption is that no one is texting and driving.
it is against the law after all too.
however.
turns out that.
sometimes.
everyone is texting and driving all at the same time.
at least two in a row sometimes, as I observed today

4.)
However. More nuance.
Devil's advocate.
After all, I'm NOT A CONTRARIAN.
What gets me the most of all.
Is that.
Every. Day. I. See. People. Texting. And. Driving.
I commute to work regularly. And every such day, I do see at least one person texting and driving.
However.
I have to admit.
I see very few car accidents.
I see maybe 1 car accident per month tbh.
So this PISSES ME OFF.
Because guess what.
It turns out that humans are very good at safely texting and driving.
Arrrrrrgggghhhhh!

5.)
This pisses me off, because I hate texting and driving, and yet I pragmatically objectively realistically observed, that, folks really aren't getting in very many accidents, including not because of texting and driving.
However.
Bring it back around again.
I bet that one accident per month is because of texting and driving.
However. Flip it back again.
I bet in the 1970s, when there were no cell phones, there was still one accident per month, just due to some other form of distraction.

So in conclusion, texting and driving is rampant, and but it somehow miraculously seems to not be fatal very often in our world due to the cleverness of earthlings, and so in the end it is just a pet peeve of mine I guess.
